Amber Ladner Settles Manslaughter Charge For Misdemeanor
Our client faced a potential twenty (20) year sentence on a manslaughter charge for the death of a child based upon alleged failure to seek medical care. There was serious disagreement with the State regarding whether or not medical care was necessary. There were other issues in the case regarding the religious freedom of the client to chose whether or not to accept certain types of medical treatment. After exhaustive work on Ladner’s part to explore all possible medical explanations for the child’s health concerns, and lengthy negotiations with the District Attorney’s office, a negotiated settlement was reached for the client. In the end, the client plead to a misdemeanor charge and was given a suspended sentence and placed on 90 days probation.
