Birmingham Municipal Courts Offers Amnesty For Food

As reported on AL.COM, the City of Birmingham and the Birmingham Municipal Court is now offering amnesty for parking tickets for those who donate canned goods.  The donations will be accepted now through Jan. 30, 2015, as part of the court’s new program, “Operation Feed My Friends, Forgive My Fines.”

The ticket and/or the person’s license-tag number must be provided at the Birmingham Municipal Court office in order to get the amnesty.  The following rates will apply:

  • 10 cans of food can get amnesty for a $15 fine.
  • 15 cans can get amnesty for a $25 fine.
  • 20 cans can be forgiven for $30 in tickets.
  • A full case of food — 24 cans — will be given amnesty for $50 in tickets.

Only parking fines are included in this amnesty. Fines with warrants are not included.
